Silversun Pickups - We ... Are

I was not too pleased to have waited 3 month for the Muse show in March, and only catching the last 3 songs of Silversun Pickups' opening set, but I did have a 20+ hours trip traveling across the world on no sleep to distract me the next day... When I heard they were coming to town again in July, I jumped at the chance to get tickets, only to have ordered it for the wrong night and city.

After trying to sell the ticket didn't work, I decided to go see their shows on back to back nights just because I could. I talked my new roommates into coming with me to Houston, which they did but couldn't get tickets because the show sold out, so they went drinking with the tickets/trip money I contributed and I went to the show myself. The facility sucked but was full of energy, Silversun Pickups was great and I was excited to hear their full set. Then after some speeding midnight driving, I got home and went to the show next day in Dallas. They were great again and sounded way better at the Palladium, too bad it wasn't as exciting because I knew exactly what was going to be played (wish they would have done at least one different song, especially Dream at Tempo 119). It cost me way more money to have gone to both shows than just eating a ticket, but it was still a fun couple of days, plus I just found out Silversun was added to the ACL lineup, I will be there for sure and am more than happy to see them again then.

Obviously I was inspired to do this drawing after seeing the band. I love The Royal We, to me it is the best song from Swoon, and I found it well deserving of a music video. Can't saying I'm loving that video but I still wanted to do what I could to support it and the song. I don't think this drawing of Brian Aubert and Nikki Monninger looks particular great or dead on, but I'm just happy that I finally got around to doing something for one of my favorite bands, hopefully there will be a next time and I'll do better.
